Seanchoíche (pronounced Shanna-Key-Ha) which is a storytelling night founded in Dublin, and spread across the world, is finally coming to South Africa, and where better a place to host our first set of nights than in the Bamboo Room at the Old Biscuit Mill?
The idea is that you come to the event if you want to hear a good story. You can come just to listen and be a spectator, or if you feel like telling a story, you can volunteer to do so.
We will be hosting the night in The Bamboo Room in the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, and all stories told will revolve around the theme of 'FIRSTS & LASTS'.
Have a story to tell about the first time, or the last time something happened to you? The last time you made a fool of yourself. The first time you moved house. Your first kiss. The firstborn in your family. Last night. Last week. Saving the best till last. The First World War. Your first lover. The last time you loved. Last goodbyes. First goodbyes… It’s a super open-ended theme that can literally be taken in whatever direction you like.
Doors are at 7.30pm.
We will have arranged storytellers on the night, but if you get the urge to stand up and tell a story when you're at the event on the night, you are welcome to do so. Storytellers can contact hello@seanchoiche.com to let us know they are volunteering prior to the event. Storytellers go free!
R100 entry (plus booking fee). Max 2 tickets per booking.
Tickets can be purchased here.
A seanchaí is a traditional Gaelic storyteller/historian. We're all natural born storytellers, and often underestimate the value of a good story.
