Seanchoíche Melbourne/Naarm | EMBARRASSMENT

Seanchoíche (pronounced 'SHANNA-KEY-HA') is coming back to Melbourne for a special night in NOVEMBER to the Grace Darling!

Stories told will revolve around the theme of EMBARRASSEMENT on November 7th.

Seanchoíche is a storytelling night founded in Dublin, and is expanding across the world. It is a night for people from all corners, backgrounds, and identities to come together and listen and engage with stories told by volunteer speakers. These stories can range from personal anecdotes, to poetry pieces, to spoken word, fictional narratives, and anything in between as long as what is spoken constitutes a story.

The event is NOT BYOB.

Doors are at 7.30pm. The evening kicks off at 8pm. If you arrive late, please be quiet when entering during a story. We also encourage staying until the end if you attend Seanchoíche. Leaving during a story is discouraged.

By attending you are aware that the evening will be photographed and potentially recorded on video, and all materials recorded may be used for our Seanchoíche's party and third party promotional material.

Tickets will be available here.

We have a select amount of Mob tickets which are free of charge. If you are a member of the Aboriginal community, you go for free. If this pertains to you, please contact gaff@seanchoiche.com to let him know you would like to attend.

Seanchoíche, an event that is grounded in respecting the cultures and traditions of all storytellers, respectfully acknowledge the the Wurundjeri woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we gather this evening.

As we run nights and workshops across these vast lands, we pay our respect to all First Nations Elders, past, present, and future. We celebrate their continuing connection and contribution to culture, country and community, as we ourselves attempt to reconnect to our own culture through storytelling, and we thank all First Nations peoples for their wisdom in caring for the land, the sky, the rivers, the sea and of course the stories that we hear, that we share, and that we feel.
